Me-262! The swallow

Much has already been written about the Messerschmitt Me-262 and it would be pointless to add another variant. The variant 1b is a further development of that of the 1a with BMW-003 engines. They were expected to perform better and, above all, to be more reliable. The Jumo-004 engines in Figure 1a turned out to be the major weak point on the Me-262.

I had the opportunity to see the replica of the "262" at Airbus in Manching.

The Berlin Technik Museum displays the Ruhrstahl X4 Air to Air rocket. As far as I know, none was ever used in combat.

The Me-262 A1b by Hobby Boss

Hobby Boss has now launched a rather impressive series of the Me-262. In addition to many prototypes, there is also a variant with BMW-003 engines. The model was almost completely built out of the box. I only added the seat belts from Eduard. Construction is progressing easily and quickly. A little more attention is required in the area of the nose. The fine detailing of the kit is remarkable.

I chose a decal variant of a machine from the test team in Rechnlin. She carries four Ruhrstahl X-4 air-to-air missiles. As far as I know, there was only one flight with two dummy rockets. The end of the war ended all further flights and tests. I like the extraordinary look of the plane with the rockets.

The model was painted with Revells Aqua Color colors.
